Muzzerone: A white overhanging rock face overlooking the blue sea, with a view over Corsica, the Apuan Alps, Porto Venere and the Island of Palmaria.

The climbing is in the sun surrounded by sea gulls: it seems like a dream but it is reality, close to a World Heritage Site, the Cinque Terre.

The grades are never extreme, multi pitch routes with bolts placed nearby and with short approach walks, but surrounded by a wild environment where the sound of the wind and the deep void accentuate the feeling of being totally immersed in nature.

It is possible to climb here all year round, until the last rays of sunshine are visible on the horizon.

Porto Venere , the “sixth” of the Cinque Terre, enchanting lands, is only half an hour on foot or 10 minutes by car.

To give you an idea of the immensity of the feelings evoked by Muzzerone, breathtaking images and videos with a bird’s eye view over all the main sectors have been added to this edition.

Davide Battistella
(Venice, 1963) started climbing in 1978 in the Apuan Alps, the Dolomites and climbing classic routes; but it is on the splendid crags of Muzzerone that he discovered his passion for sports climbing, bolted and freed many difficult routes promoting the development of these rock faces thanks to a new perspective.

His climbing went hand in hand with his medical degree, and between exams he took part in his first sports climbing competitions at Bardonecchia with excellent positions. Successively he became F.A.S.I. coach for the junior climbing team, from which many famous athletes emerged.

He has been the CAI’s (Italian Alpine Club) national free climbing instructor and was part of the CAI’s national school. He is a F.A.S.I. (Italian Federation of Sports Climbing) instructor, territorial emergency doctor and doctor for Cnsas (national diving centre), as well as being part of the Italian Medical Sport Federation.
Davide is president of the Blu Verticale Muzzerone sport association and was elected on to the F.A.S.I’s national board for the Olympic four year term 2017-2020.
