The first complete monograph of the Cyperaceae family for Spain and Portugal, written by local authors. This field guide is superbly illustrated with photographs and drawing plates.

It presents an up-to-date classification including easy-to-use dichotomous keys and numerous data that greatly facilitate the identification of the genera and species of Cyperaceae growing in Spain and Portugal, including the biodiverse archipelagos of the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Azores and Madeira. Diagnostic descriptions of the different taxa are also provided, as well as distribution maps and data on flowering time, edaphic preferences and conservation status, in the cases that have been evaluated.
The genera covered in this work are: Blysmus, Bolboschoenus, Bulbostylis, Carex (incl. Kobresia), Cladium, Cyperus, Eleocharis, Eriophorum, Fimbristylis, Fuirena, Isolepis, Rhynchospora, Schoenoplectiella, Schoenoplectus, Scirpoides, Scirpus and Trichophorum.
